Learn how to build with the earth beneath your feet! When you join us for a workshop you can expect to get covered in mud with some real hands-on learning. This is an introductory course in which we will touch on many different topics to give you an idea of what is possible!
We will cover the following topics:
• Get your mud on! In this hands-on presentation you will learn how to build different types of earthen walls such as cob, adobe, and wattle and daub. We will also talk about foundations, the installation of doors and windows, artistic elements, plastering, roofing, and more.
• Fuego! An explanation on how to build 3 different types of cooking and heating systems; an earthen oven, a compact traditional style masonry heater, and a rocket stove. Finished examples of these are on site for viewing and firing.
During your stay with us you will be working with our resident instructors Bearfoot and Steve. See their bios here.
